Meet Francis Y. Asare Baffour

Francis Y. Asare Baffour is a materials and mechanical engineering researcher with a passion for advanced manufacturing and smart materials. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where his undergraduate research focused on the development and characterization of natural fibre-reinforced composite materials.

Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toledo, Francis specializes in additive manufacturing, with research centered on the production of NiTi-X(Cu, Hf) shape memory alloys using Binder Jetting Additive Manufacturing. His work explores how manufacturing processes and heat-treatment techniques influence phase transformation behavior, superelasticity, and the performance of advanced functional materials. Through his research, he is committed to advancing innovative materials and manufacturing technologies for next-generation engineering applications.
