Meet Jacob Mensah

Jacob Mensah is an emerging higher education professional, student affairs practitioner, researcher, and global education advocate currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education at Ball State University. His work centers on student success, belonging, educational transition, and helping students navigate the systems and opportunities that shape their college experience.

Jacob’s research interests examine how institutional environments, student support systems, and transition experiences influence belonging, engagement, and persistence in higher education. His current work includes an ACUHO-I-funded study exploring how pre-arrival stress shapes first-year students’ participation and sense of belonging in Living-Learning Communities. He is particularly interested in research that can help colleges and universities create more equitable and supportive conditions for student success.

Jacob is also developing JM HelpPath, a campus resource-navigation initiative designed to help students quickly identify and connect with the right university support services. The initiative seeks to make institutional resources easier to find, understand, and access, especially when students are unsure where to turn for help.

Beyond his research and professional practice, Jacob remains actively engaged in international education, mentorship, and student development. Through Ubuntu Rising Scholars and other leadership initiatives, he is committed to expanding access to educational opportunities and helping students navigate higher education with greater clarity, confidence, and support.
